芝城強暴犯 枉坐牢25年
DNA證據第200次洗罪

【美聯社芝加哥二十三日電】由於新的DNA證據證明他不可能犯案，因強暴罪冤枉坐牢25年的48歲芝加哥男子米勒(Jerry Miller)23日獲判所有罪名都不成立。一個維護受刑人權益組織表示，米勒是一九八○年代以來全美第二百名因DNA證據洗清罪名的囚犯。

庫克郡巡迴法院(Cook County Circuit Court)法官黛安‧甘農(Diane G. Can-non)當庭宣讀裁決，米勒已洗清所有罪名。米勒露出笑容，法庭上爆出一片歡呼聲。他從此不再名列「性罪犯」名單。

米勒說，他心中沒有恨，他早已克服了痛苦。他說：「我希望繼續走我的一生，展開新生活，好好過日子。」

非裔的米勒1981年9月被控強暴、搶劫、惡性綁架、惡性毆打一名44歲白人女子。他當時只有23歲，儘管他稱案發時他正在家看電視，後來仍被定罪，飽嘗25年鐵窗，直到去年3月才假釋出獄。他現在打兩份工，跟一名家人住在芝加哥市郊。

總部在紐約的「無辜人計畫」組織(The Innocence Project)去年說服檢察官針對受害女子衣服上取得的精液樣本做DNA檢驗，結果排除了米勒是強暴犯的可能性。「無辜人計畫」表示，米勒是全美第二百名因DNA證據洗清罪名的囚犯，第一名囚犯是在1989年洗清罪名，這些冤獄者服刑的總年數大約為2475年。該組織的律師指出，米勒的案子凸顯非洲裔男子涉案的種種不利，尤其受害人為白人女子時，情況對他們更加不利。律師說，前述獲洗清罪名囚犯中，非洲裔男子所占比率相當異常，高達62%。

强暴、莫须有强暴白女人的结果，常常是私刑处死，极其野蛮原始的。

Jerry Miller exonerated in Chicago;
becomes 200th DNA exoneree nationwide

This morning in Chicago, Jerry Miller was officially cleared of a 1981 rape he didn’t commit. He was 24 when he was convicted and he served 24 years in Illinois prisons before he was paroled 11 months ago.
