109. TO BLOSSOMS.

Fair pledges of a fruitful tree,
Why do ye fall so fast?
Your date is not so past,
But you may stay yet here awhile
To blush and gently smile,
And go at last.

花兆秋实丰，缘何谢匆匆？佳期尚未满，且留半刻钟。将尔红颜笑，遗为绝世影。

What, were ye born to be
An hour or half’s delight;
And so to bid good-night?
‘Twas pity Nature brought ye forth,
Merely to show your worth,
And lose you quite.

天生尔为何? 赏心只片刻？辞别何遽遽，遗憾何多多。身价稍得窥，转瞬便已过。

But you are lovely leaves, where we
May read how soon things have
Their end, though ne’er so brave:
And after they have shown their pride
Like you, awhile, they glide
Into the grave.

借尔流逝影， 可知运和命。无论坦然否，万事皆有终。一旦荣耀尽，便即赴荒冢。

“花兆秋实丰，缘何谢匆匆？佳期尚未满，且留半刻钟。将尔红颜笑，遗为绝世影。”——诗人就是悲情，花谢也是伤之由。最绝的莫过黛玉葬花了。
