At one point, Nicholson's character tells a young lawyer played by Tom Cruise, "Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? ... You need me on that wall." Nicholson has endorsed Clinton.

看上去杰克尼克尔森扮演的高级军官盛气凌人，说起来滔滔不绝；而那个汤姆克鲁斯扮演的年轻军官气势显得不如他。但是，最后，杰克尼克尔森被带下军事法庭接受惩罚——他是彻底地输了，连带执行他命令的两个下级也得服刑。汤姆克鲁斯尽管年轻却是笑到最后。

想想也是，气急败坏这四个字用在电影里的杰克尼克尔森身上和用在今天的希拉里身上倒也是完全适合。在按常规举行的十八个辩论会（相当于十八般武艺交锋吧）之后，希拉里又单方面挑衅要增加辩论（这相当于知道自己剑术高妙于是要求追加剑术比赛一样）。欧巴马沉重迎战，除了回绝威州的辩论之外马上要有德州奥斯丁和俄州克里夫兰两场加出来的辩论战。不知道她是不是也要像杰克尼克尔森对汤姆克鲁斯那样叫一声“小子”？！

最后很抱歉地必须指出——那部久负盛誉的电影三大主演汤姆克鲁斯杰克尼克尔森和黛米摩尔，排名是汤姆克鲁斯第一杰克尼克尔森只能屈居第二。
