我的朋友, 您可好吗, 朦胧的夜影
我想与您交谈, 再一次向您走近
有一种幻觉在轻柔中蔓延
在我睡梦中留下倩影
那幻觉深印在我的脑海
伴着那无声的宁静
梦幻无尽, 石街阡阡, 我独自漫行
街灯又冷又潮, 我只好拉起衣领
五光十色的霓虹闪烁不停
好像匕首刺着我的眼睛
它划破那怡然朦胧的夜空
又刺向那无声的宁静
举目四望, 众生芸芸, 更有浮光掠影
有人高谈阔论, 却言词空洞缺真情
人声鼎沸却难闻真理
引吭高歌者却难闻其音
群情激奋却无人尝试
品味那无声的宁静
“真愚昧呀,” 我悄然说, “你们哪晓真情”
“那空洞的浮躁呀, 正像恶魔在潜行”
“大家听我说, 我愿趋前引领”
“牵我双手让我向你靠近”
可惜我的话像雨点飘零
洒向那无声的宁静
喧嚣又启, 霓虹再现, 恍惚若神灵
万众俯首祷告, 祈求神灵的福音
霓虹变幻出警世的信号说
“地铁载着福音在寂静中穿行”
“真理只在平凡中寻觅知音 ”
带着那无声的宁静

The Sound of Silence
Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone, narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw, ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dare
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools" said I, "you do not know"
"Silence like a cancer grows"
"Hear my words that I might teach you"
"Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming, and the sign said
"The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls"
"And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence
